Nilkantheshwar is a revered Hindu temple complex situated on the banks of the Narmada River near Bharuch, Gujarat. The main shrine is dedicated to Lord Shiva, known here as Nilkantheshwar, commemorating the legend where Shiva consumed the poison (हलाहल ) during the churning of the ocean, turning his throat blue.
The site houses the Nilkantheshwar Mahadev Temple, renowned for its serene ambiance and spiritual significance. The temple’s walls are adorned with carvings of 1,008 names of Lord Shiva. Adjacent to it is a temple featuring a large idol of Lord Hanuman
The site provides amenities such as parking, a public park, and accommodation options for pilgrims. Visitors can also enjoy boating on the Narmada River, with rides available until sunset, offering picturesque views of the Narmada Bridge.
